Age Eligibility & Requirements
-
Standard Age Range: This program is specifically designed for young adults aged 19–21 as of June 4, 2026.
-
18-Year-Olds: Individuals who are 18 as of the start date are encouraged to apply for a future camp year.
-
22-Year-Olds: Consideration for 22-year-olds is made only in very specific, exceptional circumstances. If you believe your young adult warrants such consideration, please contact us at info@adultingcamp.ca to arrange a brief consultation.
Attendee Profile & Readiness
This camp is designed for young adults who have led a mostly sheltered life and possess a degree of naivete or inexperience regarding independent living. It is intended for those who:
-
Currently live at home and have no prior history of living independently.
-
Are "regularly developing" and seeking a supportive environment to bridge the gap to adulthood.
-
Neurodiversity Note: While we recognize the need for programs tailored to the Autism Spectrum, our June 2026 session is not equipped for specialized support. We will consider attendees with a high-functioning Asperger’s diagnosis, provided they can function with sensitivity and independence in an environment with regularly developing peers. We hope to launch a specialized program in 2027.
Program Safety & Behavioral Standards
To maintain the safety and efficacy of our program, the following criteria are mandatory:
-
Substance Use: Attendees must not have a history of substance abuse (diagnosed or otherwise).
-
Behavioral History: Attendees must have no history of violent, abusive, or predatory patterns of behavior.
-
Commitment to Growth: We expect parents to support their young adult in embracing the "uncomfortable" moments of growth that occur during the 10-day intensive.
-
Mobile-Free Zone: We expect that parents will support our approach to a strict adherence to a Mobile-Free Zone except for activities that instructors advise, and on the last day of the camp.
